https://youtu.be/DUBy1-CFycU Me and Gary TwoToes head to the hills in his Jeep Rubicon to search for Gold Nuggets along the Yuba River. I'm going to concentrate on looking for Bedrock with crevices in it where those Placer Gold Nuggets like to hide. I'm using my Minelab SDC 2300 to check all the Bedrock for any targets that might have moved around during the recent high water from this winters storms. It's always good to get out of the valley and the Mosquitoes this time of year...

I was wondering if anyone has a preferred place to buy pay dirt to pan with where you will find good color. I ask because my 5 year old daughter has become bitten by the gold bug and I want to help 'cultivate' her understanding of the trade. I my self am green at it all but have a couple trips planned with family and friends to go on a couple GPAA claims. I want the pay dirt to make sure my daughter finds something. I have some stamp mill fines from Blackhawk, Colorado. After screening them, I ran a few scoops with my gold pan. I'm seeing some very fine gold as well as some dark gray material (not black sands) which is heavier than the gold. I was thinking galena (lead ore), but although lead is heavier than gold on the periodic table, galena is less dense. Any idea what the dark gray material is and any suggestions on how to separate it from the gold Thanks for any information you provide.

I recently got a sluice box; it is my first time using one. For reference, I am using the Royal Manufacturing 30-inch compact sluice and classifying it down to 1/4 an inch. For some reason, the first riffle of my sluice box keeps clogging up while the rest of the riffles perform and act exactly as they should.
