But if you want to find the good gold then you travel where most won't. Once you get there you realize it is paradise. River conditions were awful, feet higher then just a few week ago and the head of the river and snow are forming a glacier that is going to break loose at some point this summer, the main melt has not even started as of yet. I just purchased a 3 year membership to the GPAA and plan on taking the wife and kids out to a claim this weekend to camp and pan a little for the first time. I am wondering if it is ok to have a campfire and maybe roast some marshmallows and hot dogs

3 Replies and 870 Views Information on Triple D and M claim  870  3 Started by Hello, I was wondering if anybody from the staff has any information on the Triple D and M claim in Ventura County, CA on Piru Creek. It is the closest claim to my house and there is no information under the directions or prospecting tabs in the claim directory. I haven't received my member package in the mail yet but was hoping to read something on the claim in the meantime.

3 Replies and 770 Views How do I evaluate a ledge or out-cropping of quartz?  770  3 Started by I found a ledge or out-cropping of quartz and would like to evaluate it. It is in El Dorado county, Ca and is over-grown with a lot of brush and poison oak. It appears to be either half buried boulders or an outcropping that is exposed in a small gulch. I have a Garrett AT-Gold and a pin pointer. Can I scan the quartz with either of these to see if any gold is present I also have a sniper coil for the AT-Gold which I could try. Once I clear the brush I'm planning to scrape and brush the m...
