1 Replies and 1821 Views Hoping to Hit Rock Creek riches this weekend  1821  1 Started by  tobey.mcmullen@gmail.com Hoping to hit a few of the claims in Placer and Nevada county this weekend. I only own a few things to do this. I purchased a Garrett panning kit with a 15 inch 1/2 inch classifier and gravity trap, with a 8 inch gravity trap. It had some things to keep the gold in and a set of tweezers with a magnifying glass attached. Was like 40 bucks I think. Then I purchased a 6 inch trap for finer stuff. I hope to hit this claim first. Has anyone hit this one that can give me some pointers I was going...

17 Replies and 4496 Views Same Claim 2 Owners 2 Names?  4496  17 Started by  captaindebris@gmail.com I was researching the Nancy's Gold claim today and I found something funny, the exact same 30 acre location is also 1/2 of a 60 acre claim called Holy Moly, both claims are listed as valid surface Placer claims with different owners. How is this possible The most easy way to see it is on The Diggings site.  Click the map link to open a larger map with clear claim lines. Or am I missing something Here's 'Nancy's Gold'  https://thediggings.com/mines/camc298571 Here's 'Holy Moly' on t...

10 Replies and 2644 Views Washington State  2644  10 Started by  micah.hanley@gmail.com Hi all! New member/new prospector here from Skagit County in Washington. Safe to say that I'm a pretty terrible prospector thus far. I've found a tiny bit of gold, but I've still got a long way to go. Anyone here from Skagit County I'd be interested in meeting up with someone experienced who I could talk to. Lunch is on me! Happy to meet you all, Micah

10 Replies and 3167 Views Arizona prospecting  3167  10 Started by  Stancalavan1964@gmail.com Moved down from Washington state about a year ago and have joined a couple of different clubs to learn this new way of mining. I want to buy a dry washer but haven’t found enough gold to even consider putting the money out for a new piece of equipment. Tried many different ways and have tried to stay out of the main washes. But nothing worth while. I also have tried my monster 1000 and have filled up a snuffer bottle with small bb’s. I wish I could spend an hour or two with someone who can show ...

2 Replies and 1547 Views How to find out when local chapters have outings.  1547  2 Started by  Stancalavan1964@gmail.com Joined the GPAA about two months ago and was wondering when the local chapters were having outings. I live near Phoenix and have tried to contact the presidents but with no success. Would really like to meet up with some local members here to help get me started in finding some gold in the desert. I have been trying now for about a year and have had no luck at all. And would really like to find someone to prospect with. Hope someone can help me out and better yet join me in one of my trips out l...

2 Replies and 1233 Views Membership renewal thru Authorized reseller?  1233  2 Started by  usarianskiff@gmail.com Hello! I've been a member almost a year now and my membership is due to expire soon. I see now that GPAA resellers offer membership deals, so I'd like to go through one of them, but I'm nervous it will mess something up since they're selling it as a new membership rather than a renewal Thank you!!

7 Replies and 1958 Views Help in understanding Washington gold prospecting laws  1958  7 Started by  Goducks1989@yahoo.com Hello! I received some gold prospecting equipment this Christmas after a few years of being interested in going out and going prospecting. My initial plan was to get a sluce, just like the countless YouTube videos Iv watched. What I got this Christmas was a blue bowl, a standard gold cube and a mini trommel attachment. I’m trying to figure out a few things. 1) Is the mini trommel now useless unless I want to take buckets of un classified dirt and run it through the trommel at home 2) where ...

5 Replies and 1860 Views Membership Card - possession requirement?  1860  5 Started by  butchpetty@yahoo.com Was surfing through the forum and passed by this statement in one of the post: “make sure you have your card in possession.” The problem: I’m in Arizona but from Texas. I recently joined, in Arizona, and my mailbox is in Corpus Christi. I’m two days away from checking out my first GPAA claim. I just assumed that the official membership confirmation info that I received from GPAA on my phone was all I needed to have handy. In my opinion that is as good if not better than a “card”. Am I right or ...

1 Replies and 1818 Views 3830-2  1818  1 Started by  rmwilliams95@yahoo.com Shot story, won 3 claims in May and had a chance to check only 2. Didn't know that I had to file a 3830-2 by Sept. 1st. I know what I have to do now, but has anyone heard of an appeal working If not, anyone interested in helping to stake claims let me know. I would consider putting them under GPAA use also.

5 Replies and 2265 Views Helena, Montana Area  2265  5 Started by  Copter1doc@yahoo.com Trying to learn the rules of the area. Would like to team up with someone for a little knowledge, but also to put my wife’s mind a ease from going out alone ( limited phone coverage a times). I’ve got detectors, sluice and the will to learn, get dirty and wet when necessary. Most of all have some fun and get a little GOLD. Not looking to get rich just put some color in a pan. Would like to learn to trust my detector for gold also.

5 Replies and 2197 Views Dry washing near Randsburg  2197  5 Started by  cgtorina@gmail.com Hello all new guy here was considering dry washing near Ransburg California. Tried using the BLM MRLS maps to ensure I don’t go on someone’s claim.. for me it has not been user-friendly and was wondering if someone knows of a place or how to use the MLRS system. Every time I touch the map and move it it jumps to another location/state. If someone’s considering going out this weekend let me know if you would like an extra shoveler.

4 Replies and 1898 Views Claims closed in error  1898  4 Started by  waugh1198@gmail.com If you are holding any claims, get on MLRS and check the status. Two of my claims that happen to be listed in the guide have been listed as closed for non payment off maintenance fees. The small miner waiver was sent in July and recieved (certified return receipt). From what I can find out, some waivers were incorrectly entered in the system, and then MLRS automatically listed as closed. BLM says they caught most of them, but some have apparently slipped through. The issue is goi...

2 Replies and 1787 Views Interested in suggestions of where to go.  1787  2 Started by  jd88047@gmail.com Being elderly and disabled my wife and I would like to go now the weather has cooled down. I live in New Mexico and anything within a tank of gas is game for us. Have a few pans for panning but would like to just metal detect also. My Nox800 and F75 is most likely not up to the task. Would like mine tailings and such. We have five small dogs we would like to bring as we dont want to kennel them. If there was a hotel of cabin that would work as I do not want to subject my wife to any more inc...
