I took a opportunity to come visit and stay with a friend of mine in crescent valley NV, I have been here for a week and thought I was prepared...which I am sort of. I have equipment, and have been studying this area for a couple months now and I see lots of railing piles and waste dumps with small pits... So many hot rocks out here... It's beautiful out here, I'm ha...

9 Replies and 3318 Views Greetings and Hallucinations!  3318  9 Started by  jimmygibbswk@gmail.com Hello all! Jimmy here and I'm a brandnew, know nothing prospector that's looking to learn. I attended the GPAA Expo at the Puyallup Fairgrounds last weekend and received a great tutorial from Rick on panning and I'm hoping to learn about a few other things. First: Do you need to have a gold claim on your own property or property owned by family (that you have permission to use) From what I saw researching online, I shouldn't need one, but again, I don't know much and may have misread. ...

I'm also job hunting and have a heavy science background with experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis. Does anyone know an efficient way to tap into the Mining Lab field I'm having problems finding the right search terms to find jobs like that. Any tips/referrals would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Mary

1 Replies and 2397 Views Hoping to Hit Rock Creek riches this weekend  2397  1 Started by  tobey.mcmullen@gmail.com Hoping to hit a few of the claims in Placer and Nevada county this weekend. I only own a few things to do this. I purchased a Garrett panning kit with a 15 inch 1/2 inch classifier and gravity trap, with a 8 inch gravity trap. It had some things to keep the gold in and a set of tweezers with a magnifying glass attached. Was like 40 bucks I think. Then I purchased a 6 inch trap for finer stuff. I hope to hit this claim first. Has anyone hit this one that can give me some pointers I was going...

How is this possible The most easy way to see it is on The Diggings site.  Click the map link to open a larger map with clear claim lines. Or am I missing something Here's 'Nancy's Gold'  https://thediggings.com/mines/camc298571 Here's 'Holy Moly' on t...

Safe to say that I'm a pretty terrible prospector thus far. I've found a tiny bit of gold, but I've still got a long way to go. Anyone here from Skagit County I'd be interested in meeting up with someone experienced who I could talk to. Lunch is on me! Happy to meet you all, Micah

10 Replies and 5295 Views Arizona prospecting  5295  10 Started by  Stancalavan1964@gmail.com Moved down from Washington state about a year ago and have joined a couple of different clubs to learn this new way of mining. I want to buy a dry washer but haven’t found enough gold to even consider putting the money out for a new piece of equipment. Tried many different ways and have tried to stay out of the main washes. But nothing worth while. I also have tried my monster 1000 and have filled up a snuffer bottle with small bb’s. I wish I could spend an hour or two with someone who can show ...

2 Replies and 1769 Views Membership renewal thru Authorized reseller?  1769  2 Started by  usarianskiff@gmail.com Hello! I've been a member almost a year now and my membership is due to expire soon. I see now that GPAA resellers offer membership deals, so I'd like to go through one of them, but I'm nervous it will mess something up since they're selling it as a new membership rather than a renewal Thank you!!

7 Replies and 3579 Views Help in understanding Washington gold prospecting laws  3579  7 Started by  Goducks1989@yahoo.com Hello! I received some gold prospecting equipment this Christmas after a few years of being interested in going out and going prospecting. My initial plan was to get a sluce, just like the countless YouTube videos Iv watched. What I got this Christmas was a blue bowl, a standard gold cube and a mini trommel attachment. I’m trying to figure out a few things. 1) Is the mini trommel now useless unless I want to take buckets of un classified dirt and run it through the trommel at home 2) where ...
