Claims for sale? 8403 11
Started by ompomelet@gmail.com
Ran across this ad in my web wanderings: http://www.goldandsilvermines.com/mcp.htm
That Is a good price for that much land in that area even if it was not being touted as a placer gold claim. I wonder how old the ad is Takes me a year or three to save up that much cash if I really sit on my salary. Something to consider

Tuning Your Sluice 8521 5
Started by jsohlberg@att.net
I am relatively new to gold prospecting, drawn into the hobby by a close friend who has prospected for over 15 years. Being a computer and network troubleshooter for nearly 30 years, I often think how we might improve our recovery of gold. My friend believes that feeding his sluice material including fist size rocks. Naturally, a greater water flow is required to move those rocks out of the sluice. I have questioned him about this method and if the rocks might be disturbi...

An obvious observation (Panning!) 6042 2
Started by ompomelet@gmail.com
After reading threads on Sluices, gold cubes and other ways of making concentrates, I conclude that, no matter what prospecting method you are using, good panning skills are still tantamount to success.
Goody! Now I have an excuse to purchase more on-line paydirt since I'm stuck here for another 5 weeks...
Need to practice!

Started by robert.j.gallagher@gmail.com
My wife and I had planned to go to Alabama Gold Camp (AGC) this weekend but the weather looked a bit damp for the weekend so I placed an order from Constellation Mining so I could still get a bit of a gold fix this weekend. Yesterday, seven bags of paydirt were delivered by USPS Priority Mail. I ordered on 11/3 and it was delivered on 11/6!
I weighed the seven - 1 pound bags and the weight was 8 pounds 10.5 ounces. Nice to get more than you pay for!!
Here's what it look...

The Transmogrification of Beer Bottles into Gold 7428 7
Started by crashcrain@gmail.com
At one of our recent meeting we had a new individual show up that let us just say was dressed a bit funny. At the beginning of our meeting we like for guest and visitors to introduce themselves and give them a chance to talk, so when it came to this man taking his turn I thought for sure somebody was pulling a prank, but no, this guy was serious.
The man talked for over 20 minutes about his need for investors because he has discovered how to take crushed beer bottles, throw them into a microwa...

Fine Flour Gold Recovery? 71870 32

During a dig yesterday I came across a lot of really fine flour gold, grain of sand size and smaller. I am a pretty good panner but when it comes to the really fine stuff I am struggling with the best means of recovery. I take my snuffer bottle and empty it onto a paper plate and then dry the fine stuff in the oven and I can pick most of it out with a razor and tweezers, but there is always powder gold I just cant recover.
Could somebody give me some tips on how to recover the really fi...

how do you find your spot to dig? 11629 6

hello every one,

I was wondering how every finds their spot to dig that's not claimed. I know it involves lots of home work. I use mylandmatters.org to find out where active claims are in the areas I want to work, they down load all their info from the BLM LR2000 site, however it only shows you the section, township, range and all the claim info and tell you how many claims are in that section. then I have to go to the recorders office with all that info and locate w...

Metal detectors 22821 32
Started by mikeandbettyh@yahoo.com
Any input on metal detectors would be great. I am looking at buying one this year (this is the wife) I've been looking at the Garrett AT Gold, any opinions on it Any others I should be looking at in the same price range We are looking at spending about $700-$800 on one. I want one that will find gold! I know they won't find the fine stuff, but we have nuggets to use with it to learn what the sound on the detector is for gold. Thanks for any help.

To Claim or not to Claim? That is the Question. 10982 15

I was out riding in a friend's 4 wheeler, and I spotted an old Chinese rock wall on the edge of a wash, I noticed that the wash had cut away a bank about 6-10 ft tall for about 100 yrds. upstream from the Chinese rock wall. There were several layers of different size gravels all through the bank. A few days later I drove back to the wash in my PT cruiser, (not a 4 wheel drive) and with careful navigation, I made it all the way out to the wash, (approximately 6 ...
