My opinion of a mini sluice is exactly that, an opinion. For what it's worth, I would rather have a well built folding sluice than a small, shorter mini sluice. The 7 lb. weight of a quality 50" folding sluice is worth it when compared to the gold capture of a mini sluice that weighs 3 or 4 lbs. No matter which one you decide to use, the secret to keeping larger quantities of smaller gold is classification. Classify to a quarter inch and classify the results to 1/12 inch. Sluice them separately. I take my concentrates home from both runs and use a Black Magic fine sluice for the final clean up. My folding sluice is made by Royal. My less than portable sluices for finer recovery are Sidewinder Sluices, made in Colorado.

I just got a Brawn on clearance at Cabela's . I will remove the riffles  and make a rocker or add new riffle system.

On the subject of magnetic sands building up on steel riffles and blowing out fine gold, I have been sluicing since I were 12 and have steel riffles in all my sluices except my bazooka, my AMP and rocker boxes and I have never seen magnetic sand build up on a riffle. Even if it did build up on a riffle it wouldn't blow out fine gold. That's horsesh*t. The only reason a steel riffle would build up black sands is if it was magnetized which is being suggested. Why are you guys sticking magnets in there?! If you are holding a magnet up to your riffle to allow it to magnetize while water is flowing you are probably blowing out your fines due to disrupting water flow. Crazy mess.

I saw the bazooka in action today, and was very impressed.

I have an Ez-Sluice and love it. Super light-weight, and easy to carry.

But, if I had spare funds this year, I'd probably head over to Angus Mackirk and get one of his .. I hope I meet somebody that has one, but all his stuff looks amazing. Specifically the "Scout" ($45) about same price as the Ez-Sluce.
