I’m going out to William’s arz early dec to see the grand canyon and pick up a puppy we are traveling from Nevada city ca. we are mostly wanting to camp as much as possible along the way trying not to do hotels maybe do a little exploring some of the gpaa claims with the kids to burn some Energy do they allow camping on gpaa claims and also any one recommend some on the way we are going to be heading south to barstow then cutting over to arz i have a few metal detectors and lots of other gear i...

Separating very fine gold 1736 3

Earlier this spring I went to a Colorado placer site and brought back some pay dirt that i ran thru a sluce box . I tried panning, the Blue Bowl and I have a Black Magic setup and still am having issues separating the very fine flour type gold without losing it. I seem to loose the gold before the black sand. I use dishwasher drying agent and have a 45 magnet. Just can't seem to get the gold. Any suggestions without spending more money on more gadgets Thanks.

Hello! I am new to prospecting and new to GPAA but having a great time so far. Recently I found myself on a claim out in the Sierras with no immediate access to facilities. I was grossed out when I saw a very shallow 'pit' covered in used toilet paper between the parking lot and the creek. Wilderness areas in CA - Red Cloud claim 1786 8

Prospecting 1st time near the Red Cloud claim in CA and have seen lots of signs that limit access to the wilderness designated areas. Anyone know the rules concerning prospecting these areas This only effects a small portion of the 160ac claim. Only made one trip out there. Mostly just locating the claim and dig sites. Did some metal detecting for about 2 hours. Wasn't in the right area for that. Did go off claim and explored the original mine quite a bit. BLM has limited some areas. Ma...

While driving around in the AZ desert last week I found a dry wash that had black sand streaks visible from the truck. At night! I had no gold mining equipment since I was there for agates. Used my hands to gather a about half a gallon of the stuff, but there is just too much black sand for my skill level of panning. Hello, I noticed that people are saying 'Couldn’t find a claim marker but gps confirmed. Whole area appears to be claimed.' I am looking into getting out to the desert to do some prospecting. Still pretty new to the hobby. I was wondering what others think or recommend...... I am looking into getting a power sluice and setup a water recirculating system when I go out to the desert. Taking water with me isnt an issue. I was looking at doing this setup because it is a bit cheaper to get and yes i know its more work to setup. A dry washer is a bit more expensive and less setup time to it. I was wondering...
