I’m also a new member and wondering that if you go to these GPAA sites do you have to get your own permits for whatever piece of equipment that you are using or they covered by whoever owns the claim? Also do you have to pay anything to the owner of the claim? I have a Sluice, and a Highbanker/Suction dredge I want to use.. thanks

You don't pay at any GPAA claim that I'm aware of, it is part of your membership. You should have membership cards that allow access, along with permit. Check on the web site under rules and regs for each site. Hope this helps

And I wouldn't totally rely on the information here regarding permits, etc. Always check with the applicable agencies, remembering that you may have both federal and state regulations and permits to research.

You don't have to pay any part of your finds to either GPAA or the claim owner, if it's listed in the guide.

You are, however required to follow all state and federal laws and regulations. This includes anything required for equipment such as a dredge permit or highbanker permit. Some states regulate sluices and pans even, so do your research on the area you're going to.

Here in Oregon you are supposed to have the 700PM permit for dredging....$500 for the first year, and around 85-90% of waters are closed with varying seasons on what is open. Need the 600 permit for highbanker, not issuing at this time, but existing ones are still valid.
