Gold Cube vs Blue Bowl 31746 29
Started by fritzj8
Which do you think is better at recovering
fine gold, the Gold Cube or Blue Bowl and why I have owned and used
the Blue Bowl for several years now, and can really appreciate how much fine
gold it recovers. However, I don't like the fact you need to wash your
concentrates first or else the water gets really cloudy, which makes it very
hard to see what you are doing. This process can take a lot of time and
water to accomplish. Unfortunately, I have only use...

Handheld GPS 186 4
Started by jdebroux
Hey there fellow prospectors. My wife got me membership for Christmas and Im in the midst of planning a few trips to some of the local claims. It dawned on me that I will probably need something that will be able to tell me my current location. I want to avoid inadvertently digging on property that I don't have any access to. With that being said, can any one out there recommend a modestly priced, handheld GPS that is able to cache loations/coordinates, provide a map and has way point to way...

Traveling with equipment 280 2
Started by timschoen85@gmail.com
I live in New England and travel quite a bit, and I'm constantly asking myself 'how do I get my equipment out here' I have a kit that I use here at home that condenses into a pack, and carry my stream sluice which is great. I also own a hard rock claim North of Wickenburg which requires a whole different set of tools. My issue is do I ship my sluice Check it as a bag and risk TSA destroying it Should I rent equipment from a local shop Any ideas

vehicle recommended for prospecting 44753 11
Started by blackchipjim
Hello all, I guess this is the best place to ask this question. I am going back to prospect some of the areas I have been researching by map. I just wonder what your opinion is on vehicles to go into the desert and mountainous regions of arizona. I had rented a suv last time and was leery of some of the sandy washes i encountered. I was going to rent a jeep wrangler if for nothing else but for it's tires and ground clearance. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Recommendations for handheld GPS unit? 28777 9
Started by MtnPipr
Heya All,
So I have been reading on the Claim Directory that folks say to buy a handheld GPS unit instead of relying on the cellphone. Given that my AT&T iPhone hardly ever gets receptions in the mountains, I can appreciate that recommendation. Trouble is, there are a *ton* of units out there ranging from very little to crazy money.
Any members care to weigh in on what would work for finding the ingress and center of claim coordination for the GPAA claims that are posted on thi...

Where to sell Antique Equipment 15311 1
Started by bjlcbarr
My Dad was a collector of antique mining equipment 40-50 years ago. His yard is practically a museum of 100 year old rock crushers, small gas engines, miners picks, etc. He also has some antique assay equipment like button molds, crucible and scales. I have decided it needs to sell to pay for his assisted living. What is the best magazine or online marketplace for selling this stuff There used to be a couple of annual mining equipment shows years ago. I couldn't find info online. Thanks

Miller Table Setup Help 16125 5
Started by goldhammer
I just won a Jimbo's Gold Miller Table kit, including pump. Tried contacting him through his website and have heard nothing back in a couple of weeks. No instructions are included, but I figured out the assembly from the slide show on his site.
Looking to find an initial setup as far as flow and angle to run it at. Any thoughts are welcome, as this will be first experience with one.

Gold cube 42687 35
Started by minermikey
I am looking at the Gold Cube and I am wondering which combo works best There is the Cube with the Classifier Plate or the Cube with the Desert Fox Trommel. I am more interested in the quality of processed material than the quantity of material processed although quantity is a factor. If anybody has used the Desert Fox I would like their input as to its performance and durability, especially when it is with the Gold Cube.

Processing 50 and higher mess for fine gold 6290 6
Started by hunterjoe@comcast.net
If you had one choice what would you buy or use to process cons for fine gold I do understand classification has a big part in this. I have used the blue bowl, bucket sluice and a few diy projects. Also does the spiral wheel work I thought of building a shaker table. I just wish someone made a shaker table for a small guy. I can not justify spending that type of money for something I would use maybe 1to2 times a year when I go on vacation from FL at GA.

Hookah AIr Systems 4456 1

Looking into purchasing a Hookah system for use with my dredge. Don't want to go T80/gas powered and only use battery powered unit. I know you are limited to underwater time with them due to being battery but will have 2 batteries with me. only will be using about 2-3 hours max since most of my dredging is in shallow water (long arming) but want it in case I get into some good material that I need to get head under water. Been looking at the HOOKAHMAX, Brownie3rdlung, and Gator-gill systems but ...

The Gold Webb 3659 2
Started by cmckeever
Hi,
Saw a You Tube video on 'The Gold Webb.' https://www.youtube.com/watchv=ZeQ0U_EmKFc
It claims to recover 'clean gold' from 'black sand.' One of the questions asked the poster was if it recovers -100 mesh gold. The poster did not answer.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried 'The Gold Webb' out and did it recover real fine gold. I have occasion to do beach prospecting and the best I can find is -50 mesh but mostly -100 and smaller.

Trailer/Camper 4789 3

Ok here is my new baby. 6x12 trailer that I made some changes to. First it is a little higher on the inside than a standard 6x12 as it has a 6' 6' interior height (bought it that way). Ok now I put shelving and created a table/storage area in the 'V' nose area to put my chairs/cot/personal gear in. Next I made a moveable wall with door to put on the back end to enclose the trailer but have access ( basically creating a camper shell). I also made 2 blocks for the ramp to sit on to turn it into a ...
