Libby Creek Public Panning Area — 2x4

From Libby Montana town center go 11 mi south on US 2 to FS 231 and turn right / west. Go 10.8 mi to south edge of Public Panning Area (sign). Gravel road is one lane in many places with lots of curves and warnings about logging trucks using the area. We saw none.
Many camping sites near the creek and Howard Lake camping is about a 1/2 mile from the panning area. A few pull thru sites for trailers 20-22' available.

Take Libby Creek road off of Hwy 2 about 13 miles south of Libby. Bear (no pun) left at the Bear Creek intersection about 1/2 way. You will cross Libby Creek 3-4 times. Look for the public gold panning signs. Turn left over Libby Creek after you see the sign. Public area is on the right soon after crossing the creek.
