Roads and claim were covered in snow. I wouldn't have made it in, and definitely wouldn't have made it out without 4x4. There are some washouts in the road, so a vehicle with good ground clearance is a plus especially if it's wet.
The directions in the current mining guide are spot on.

I've only been once; and that was a decade ago. I don't know which or how many curves there are; but I can tell you that when you see that sharp curve that bears left to avoid the railroad tracks, GO STRAIGHT AND CROSS THOSE TRACKS!
