    Kevin,
I am a GPAA life member and went to the only property that was associated with the organization in South Carolina which is a LDMA property. I went there to talk about what was and was not allowed for a GPAA member. Caretaker was somewhat very helpful in answering the questions I had but I still left there confused and with more questions.
I asked what a GPAA person could bring of theirs such as a dredge, high banker, sluice, etc. to use if allowed. Person could not give a definite answer. Said it would have to be asked at head quarters level.
Asked about what the limitations was for a GPAA member such as how many times could they visit the site each year, how long of a stay (1 day, 2 days, etc.) was allowed for each visit and the cost associated with dredging, high banking, using a sluice in the creek. Caretaker answered the cost question but still could not give me a definite answer if I could use my own equipment or if I had to use the claims equipment.
As I am sure there are others just like me (with only a GPAA membership) with no GPAA property in the South Carolina area, need to be knowledgeable about the rules. Maybe these topics and others as well can be printed in the magazines for all to read . As I understand the magazine is always wanted topics and submissions to help the miners of both the GPAA and LDMA.

    Thanks in advance,

    Clem-
Kevin may give more information, but to the best of my knowledge, any GPAA member is eligible for a one time, 3 day visit to an LDMA property, regardless of membership level. Other than that, they are only allowed to attend the advertised digs that are open to either GPAA or public. As you may have been told, generally the GPAA member price is usually higher than what LDMA members pay.

As to equipment, it will depend on what state regulations allow, seasons of use allowed, and/or property owners allow. This will be for all GPAA and LDMA members, and nationwide. I believe that you can bring any allowed equipment to any property or claim. Most won't have enough for everyone.

Hope this helps answer your questions.

    Clem,
Everything Art said about assuring that you are within the State of SC. guidelines for water quality and control. Remember to ask what is and not allowed as far as equipment is concerned. Some equipment is considered seasonal and may not be allowed depending on time of year and other state restrictions.

Additionally, each LDMA Camp has different equipment regulations and a different price structure. What I am including is Oconee Camp ONLY and is not relevant to any other LDMA camps.
For Oconee camp - Non LDMA Member cost are based on availability and LDMA members will always have Priority and there are sites that are or may be LDMA member only sites.

Electric 50 amp $40.00 per day
Electric 30 amp $30.00 per day
    Electric 110v $20.00 per day
Dry Camp no services $15.00 per day

These prices are for Oconee non LDMA members only and are not available during outings unless you are participating in the outing, which has a different pricing structure.

    Regards,

    Kevin aka GPAA Claims :-)
