I have a couple things on my list to research and purchase, and a new set of headphones is one of the things on it. I am using a Gold Bug Pro and am just about to order a pair of Gray Ghost either original or ultimate. However I would be wasting a resource if I hadn't asked for an opinion here. I'm remote so trying them on first is not a real good option. I've read plenty supporting the quality and comfort issues. There are a lot out there and even more to read about them. Any preferences or thoughts for me before I hit the "buy" button? I only have about 50 hours operating my GB Pro but am getting the hang of it. Everything I'm reading leads me to believe I'm on the right track. Thanks.

James, the two most important characteristics of high performance gold prospecting headphones are comfort and decibel output. "Comfort" is highly subjective. Thus I recommend that you try them on before purchase, which admittedly makes it difficult at times. As regards decibel output, the higher the better, meaning that the louder the output, the better you will hear the faint signals from small and/or deep targets. My favorites? Koss UR 29.  Very comfortable, with 101 ohm impedance and 103 decibel output. Retail: $30.00. Hope this helps; HH Jim
