I recently sold my house North of Nashville and I am relocating down to the Chattanooga area. Any gems/gold hunting takes place in the East TN, GA, Carolinas area. I was an avid Civil War relic hunter and lots of opportunities abound in a 75 mile radius of Nashville. Although you can't hunt the battle sites, camps sites are permissible. Most are on private land and permission is required. I got into gold/gem hunting and is one of the reasons for where I am relocating. Jewelry hunting with a detector is fairly rewarding if you find the right swimming hole. I have located a creek approximately 65 miles west of Nashville that is full of swimmers and frolickers all summer. In the winter the water level is only inches deep and is a great place to look for coins and jewelry. This will be my last winter to hunt it, so if you are interested in that kind of prospecting, let me know and I'll reveal the location this spring. Hopefully, in a year or so I will have located some places in my new area to prospect for gems and gold. If I do and you're interested, hit me up.
