We've got a 3" dredge. We've noticed most discharge hoses from the nozzle to the sluice are around 25 feet or so.

Our discharge hose from the nozzle to the sluice is +/- 40 feet. Is this too long? We need to run the motor at a fairly high RPM to get enough suction.

The drawback seems to be we"re pushing a lot of water through the sluice and are afraid we"re blowing out the gold.

Thanks for any comments, good or bad --------------------------

you can go to a bigger pump and motor or you can put another power jet around 25ft. down the line and run other pump and motor and you might have to decrease the angle on your sluice box and check out how much carpet is being expose that will let you know if your box is running to fast and if you can not control the speed then you will have to go with a bigger box

I would suggest a 20' - 25' suction hose would be your best bet
If operations permit. Cut it in half and put half away outa the weather, ready to go when the other wears out
Back off on the throttle some, save fuel and equipments
Discharge hose should be short off the pump to the jet 1 1/2" I would guess

    Miss those days....

william said it cut your hose in half .I run 15 feet on mine ,well did .

Look at it this way .You are pushing water trough 40 foot of 1 1/2 hose then pushing it another 40 feet .And then the other water you pick up thats 80 feet .
