Ive been there a few times but I'm very much a greenhorn also.. I basically just walked around for a couple hours and played in the dirt..lol.. How did your trip go? Do you live in the area?

I'm going up there in a couple weeks...how did your trips go? Is it easy to find the claim? Any info would be awesome!

I'm thinking about going up to Dogtooth before it begins getting too cold and the ground freezes.
From what Ive been told, the gold that's there is 3-5 feet deep and that there is little water.
From some of the aerial photos of the claim, the area seems to be very potholed and some distance from the access.
I'm not sure if it's dry panning or detecting in the absence of water.
Also, I'm not sure if you have to hike in or not.

Any posting on this matter would be helpful.
