The Coronavirus has put a major damper on many people's plans for fulfilling spring and summertime fun. We all should take this seriously by limiting where we go to limit the risks of contracting this terrible virus that can take people's lives. But on the flipside, there is a positive to staying away from groups of people, because, we all love to hunt for gold, and this is usually a solitary activity. We that love prospecting for gold can still get out there to hunt the gold as this activity will get us away from people. Be smart about where to go prospecting and don't camp near anyone else. Give yourself space. Pick spots that shouldn't get a lot of people traffic.
For instance, don't camp by a lake. Instead, camp someplace no one else would want to camp and with no water nearby that normally attract crowds. I plan on going detecting very soon, and I am already planning these trips while not putting myself near anyone except two good friends where we can still enjoy each other's company while keeping a safe distance. Detecting naturally requires a good distance from others and we will space our campsites far enough away while still being able to communicate with each other.
Something different, but I believe in, is Oil of Oregano as it is known to have very strong and natural anti-viral properties. Every one or two days put four drops in a glass of mildly hot water, mix with honey and drink it down. The honey makes it tasty as the oil is very potent by itself in water. This drink can help boost your immune system's ability to fight off viruses.
Another tip is to fuel your vehicle using your card at the pump instead of going into stores to pay. I keep a pack of hand sanitizer wipes for cleaning things like the fuel nozzle and anywhere I touch that many others may have come in contact with.
Once I am on the road heading to my destination, I should be in the clear to a great weekend of gold detecting where I know for sure that I will not be coming into contact with other people. This will get me out to continue doing the thing I love the most, which is hunting for the gold, and if for some reason I just don't find a nugget, then the trip will still be worth it. It gets me out of the house, away from people, and off the grid doing something I love to do - detecting & camping.
In short, the more time I am out in the middle of nowhere looking for gold, the fewer people I will come into contact with and the fewer chances I have of catching the Coronavirus or anything spread through crowds for that matter. Take some time off and away under the sun or some shade to enjoy the great outdoors to yourself. Always remember to be safe and let people know where you are going just in case anything happens.
