The Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest has announced an opportunity to comment during a 30 day comment period on the Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) for Proposed Changes to the Motorized Travel System on the Safford Ranger District (SRO). This project could impact access to GPAA claims.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to comment on the Draft EA for future eligibility to file an objection.

The Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest has initiated the environmental analysis process for Proposed Changes to the Motorized Travel System on the SRO. The proposed project is located on National Forest System Lands in portions of Graham and Cochise counties of southern Arizona. The project would decommission some roads and add others to the National Forest Road System on the SRD. The proposed project is intended to provide for a system of National Forest System roads, trails, and areas designated for motor vehicle use on the SRD that will minimize impacts to natural and cultural resources while providing adequate access to the public as well as Forest staff and law enforcement and emergency response personnel.

Only those who submit timely project-specific written comments during a designated opportunity for public comment are eligible to file an objection.

The Draft EA can be viewed on the Coronado National Forest website. Submit your comment electronically.
