The Gold Prospectors Association of America will be looking to resume Gold & Treasure Shows starting in 2022. Gold & Treasure Shows, commonly referred to as Gold Shows, are weekend events held throughout the country where the general public is invited to partake in hosted lectures, meet with local, regional and national vendors in the small-scale prospecting industry, learn to pan for gold, meet with local prospecting clubs and GPAA chapters as well as other fun prospecting activities. GPAA Gold Shows have played a critical role in introducing prospecting to many first-timers of all ages for generations. The last Gold Show was hosted in early 2020, just before the remaining Gold Show schedule was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the world continues to reopen and recover from the recent turbulence, resuming Gold & Treasure Shows in 2022 speaks to the importance of conducting this type of event live and in person. So many things can be purchased online, learned remotely, or undertaken as a “do it yourself” project. Gold prospecting, on the other hand, is more easily and thoroughly absorbed when you can get your hands on a pan, walked through the operation of your metal detector, meet face to face with members who have prospected in your area, and shown how equipment is set up to maximize recovery. Some things cannot be fully understood by watching YouTube videos from the couch in your pajamas (unfortunately).

This coming year’s shows will be met with some changes to make sure all those in attendance feel safe and involved, enjoy their experience, and get the most they can from it. The schedule is now in the early stages of planning and should be announced soon in the Gold Prospectors Magazine and on the website at Goldprospectors.org. I expect the Gold Shows to be bigger and better than ever with gold prices hitting all-time highs, a renewed emphasis on activities you can do outdoors, and with all of us itching to get out and experience new things.

The entire GPAA family anxiously awaits welcoming you to a show in your area. The first 100 paid attendees will receive a vial with free gold (as always), prizes will be contributed from our industry partners and donated to local nonprofit chapters to raffle off, the panning zone will have more gold than we have ever given away before, and I look forward to seeing you all out there again!

Great news, looking forward to visiting. Could you try and have an event close to northern Illinois? I know for gold this state is boring as watching grass grow but I enjoy the people and equipment on display.

Regards to all Rich.
