California state park ocean beaches

I may have the chance to prospect along the pacific coast north of Arcata this summer on a family trip. Can anyone tell me if state park owned beaches allow gold panning? Any other hints on where I’d be legal since there aren’t any GPAA claims up that far north?

California State Parks usually allow for pans and hands only. I always try to find a LEO such as a Sheriff would be a good idea if you can’t find a park ranger. All National Parks ban metal detectors and gold prospecting in order to protect the ecosystem and park beauty.
