Tempting as it is, I had a whites 24K ,great machine but the coil would overload on certain mineralized soils. The whites model did have some cool issues that wasn't really acknowledged but within isolated circles, Garrett did make some changes to the 24K including the coil with ROBOTIC manufacturing vs Jurassic style hand windings at whites. Handwinding is susceptible to human error, as to the tolerances of acceptability who knows what side was like ,but here's an interesting post from detectorprospector site. I did call support several times regarding the overload issue, I did manage to rma it and they replaced the PCB board and also gave me two rechargeable batteries because the machine would also shut down even in perfect 78 degree weather. The shutdown problem was resolved after Jim McCullough (my vendor at the time) suggested to pull the contact springs out inside the housing with needle nose pliers. Low and behold the shutdown issue was resolved. What's interesting about that is the shutdown problem wasn't resolved when it got rmad back to whites. Why? Because of the hand manufacturing process, go figure. Anyways, on another note we can't tell if the whites machine he's are counterfeit either. That was one factor that whites was dealing with before and during the pandemic. Chinese knockoffs are insane and becoming more and difficult to identify with technology so advanced. Anyways, just a thought. Here is the link https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/18278-did-garretts-make-any-changes-to-the-24k-after-taking-over-whites/
