This was a great place for flake, specks and gold dust.. Had a great time with fellow member James "Dudley" Slay. Also a found and Native Indian mill stone for acorns.

Efrain how well does the trommel work? Is one of those things expensive? Looks like fun.

Leo I bought it from Goldfox USA it cost about a $1000 bucks with shipping.. Note that you can only feed with a shovel if your dealing with large material and if you are dealing with sand best to use a small scooper cause the sand will blind your mattes and wash all your gold away and that's from experience

Hopper 11 1/2''x 11 1/2'' x6'' , over all machine length 26 1/2'', ......5''- 16 gauge -12''  barrel classing to 1/4'' , collection box 16'' x 6 3/4'' x 3''(under the barrel ), features  multi adjust angle  trommel base , motor drive adjust tension spring , 12 RPM barrel speed , 12 volt gear driven , 12 RPM,  the bottom box is 36'' x 7'' x 3'' , a light weight leg attachment fixture with four corner adjustments , features gold hog matting in this order , UR ,SCRUBBER,  RAZOR , DOWN DRAFT AND BEDROCK ,  water supply is 12 volt 1100 GPH , 3 ft of 1 1/8'' Flex hose , features a unique spray bar that runs inside of the barrel to spray the material while it tumbles as well as supplies water the hopper , a very cool unit . total weight is 30 lbs . complete unit ready to run (battery not included)

Gee I thought that thing was big! But the size seems really portable enough. Do you really like the way it works? How long does the battery run if it is steady on? Does the battery run the pump and the trammel together or do they use separates? You mentioned the sand, but in that case ...what to do....when the mat fills up just clean out? That could really be very often if you are in sandy material.

The battery is  ridding lawn mower battery so far it has lasted me 12hrs fully charged and it runs the water pump and trommel. If I run into sand I just feed the trommel slower so that it doesn't blind the matte and let the water do it's work. I love the way it works and the trommel part can also can be fitted to work on the Goldcube.

Dudley and I will be at the Bautista Claim again Wednesday the 15th early morning about 8am.

    Hey Efrain,

I prospected the Bautista Placer a day several years back... I hardly found a speck working up the creek and crevicing.
I actually did MUCH better up by Big Bear, above Fawnskin, in the Holcomb Creek area.
Maybe check out my Trip Report from Feb 2012:

    Good luck!
