With all the different systems out there it is a bit overwhelming on which one is a good place to start. Blue bowls, spiral panning wheels, gold cube, mini sluices.....   I've even heard that some will mix their black sand with vinegar in a rock tumbler for 24 hrs. then combine it with salt and heat it   I'm sure each one has its pro's and con's and probably a lot is personal preference, but does any one type stand out above the rest?  Ultimately after all the research I've done, I'm leaning toward building my own from a blue bowl combined with a mini sluice with a vibrator attached.  Any feedback from experience using the different methods would be greatly appreciated.

Hello John, I haven't used one myself, but members of our club swear by them and I've seen the results of the Gold Cube. Our club is going to buy one this spring, so all members can use it at our meetings and outings. If you don't mind classifying down to 1/8", it really does the trick. There are also slick plates and grizzlies you can use on top of them so you don't have to classify as small, maybe 1/2" -- 1". I have also seen people who mount small trommels like the mountain goat or hand cranked ones, to feed them. And they'll work with bilge pumps or small 1" gas pumps.
Just my opinion for what it's worth. But I have seen the results, and know they really work.
