The two Oregon Senators have introduced the above bill in Congress.

It will add over 4,000 miles of Oregon waterways to the Wild and Scenic River system.

It will include 640 acres per river mile---that is 1/2 mile on either side if ordinary high water line. All lands and waters designated will be withdrawn from mineral entry.

What that means is, you can't file a claim, and if an existing claim is closed for any reason, it can't be refiled, and it's gone forever

This bill covers most gold bearing waters that are still open to claims and mining. Existing claims are supposed to be honored, but you might be limited on how you can't work them.

It looks like it affects virtually every GPAA claim in Oregon, except one. I do know that it will affect two of the claims we have listed here.

Please write both of the Oregon Senators, as well as your own, along with your congressional representative that this is another mining grab, and attempt to get rid of any mineral extraction in this country.

Took the Wyden idiot 7 months to reply. Nothing on my comments, just a rehash of the same old tired press release from the original. Nothing from the other useless.....best not type what I want to.

Proves it's a waste of time to comment and give input. These a**wipes just do what they want, and don't give an airborne attempt at intercourse with a rolling pastry. They live in their own little world that is far removed from the rest of us that work for a living.

I've been voting for anyone else but Wyden and Merkley, and it doesn't matter who or what it is.

I asked Wyden's eastern Oregon office a question on sale of existing claims. This was done three weeks ago, and still no response. And this is the office lady that shows up at our RAC meetings, and wanted the phone numbers of the three RAC members interested, so she could talk to us. That was a month ago, and not a word from that office. Sent her an email directly, not on the contact me page.

More proof that they don't give a damn what citizens want, even when requested by appointees of the Secretary of the Interior that serve on an advisory council to the USFS and BLM for almost all of the northeast 1/4 of the state of Oregon.

Arthur, Check out the Republic Mining website. It's a club in Southern Oregon. Scroll to the bottom of the home page and look at this article on the right. "Miners, fight now or have blood on your hands forever." Click the link in that article. Sign the petition and state your frustration. This is one way people are trying to fight back against the Oregon River Democracy Act. I signed it. Matt Johnson

Hate to tell you this, but that bill will never even get out of committee. Too many waterways already in the system, and nothing has every been released from a Wild & Scenic designation.

As much of a waste of time as complaining or commenting on the Wyden bill.
