paul 2 dogs here do you belong to the billings chapter ???? you'll have a great time. remember they run the big dig rain snow or sun shine... so bring boots rain gear and a jacket.... also a 5 gal. bucket and a shovel...
have you made arrangements for a place to stay ???? if not contact kandi at the zortman motel 1-406-673-3160 they also run the camp grounds.... wouldn't wait much longer cuz it fills up fast... you can also stay past the big dig weekend and prospect on your own on johns claim (kandis husband ) no extra charge..... anyway have a good time. this year our mining crew will use the camp grounds as base camp... found some interesting ground last fall that they want to check out. so maybe we'll see ya there.

Dennis, do I have to join the local Billings chapter to participate in the memorial weekend dig and do I have to sign up for dig before that weekend? thanks Paul.

hay paul... no you don't have to be a member to go to the dig. you can wait till you get there to register for the dig, BUT remember camping and motel room sometimes is limited depends on the amount of people. Zortman is a very small town about 50 people. there is a cafe, bar, gas station/grocery store and a post office... that's it the gulch you'll be digging on should be good this year they had a lot of snow about 2 weeks ago they go 8 inches. the old pegasus mine that closed in 2000 sits right above the gulch so gold does come down the gulch. if your thinking of going i'd call kandi at the motel make a res. then if you can't make it call her 7-10 days before the dig and cancel that way you'll be covered... hope that helps

Does anyone know why the BLM closed the Outback Gold claim in Pinal County?
