So I’m from Maine and this is our off season. I’m brand new to the gpaa but have been prospecting for a few years now. I’ve recently went through a pretty bad break up and I’m off work for the rest of the month. So what better of a time to go out and dig. Was curious what states out west where still able to be prospected and or what claims I should check out through the gpaa. I would only be bringing a river sluice and pans. Since I will most likely end up be sleeping in my car I won’t have much room for anything else. If people have some spots and want to get out for a day I would love to hook up maybe get learnt a thing or two!

    Thanks all,
    Dan-oh

Most states out west allow prospecting on federal land that doesn't have claims filed.

Most all of the gpaa claims are open to dispersed camping for up to 14 days. Weather might make access difficult to some.

If you get to Oregon I can suggest the quartzville group, located about 50 miles east of I-5, halfway between Salem and Eugene, and 25 miles from services. There is also a large public area close by. Usually no snow but can be cool and rainy. Water can be high.

I'm part owner in 2 of the 3 claims in the group, and more than happy to show you around.
