The east fork was removed from location in 1928, the forest service has allowed miners to prospect there ever since. The Monument act which was asserted by executive order at some point will put a hindrance if not a total halt on all prospecting in the canyon. This may not happen until the rules and policies for the monument are put into place. I would check with the forest service for that area.
