comparing coordinates in 50th anniversary edition and GPAA web site (blue moon, smith placer claims) coordinates are close but not exact. The 2014 edition gives townships ranges and sections were the 50th edition and the web site only gives latitude and longitude and no information on driving directions. Also how do you know if a claim is still active with the GPAA and has not been taken back or has became a close claim.

You can call the BLM or the GPAA . They are both very helpful.

I will say as a new member it is highly irritating to pay a membership Fee to a association and find the association had put less and less effort into providing members accurate claim locations and up to date claims. After talking to another member it seemed as the GPAA puts little Concern for satisfaction of members. I was also told by another former member who said that the GPAA took most of the good GPAA claims and started the LDMA leaving the GPAA members with limited access to them. Is this accurate? My stepfather was GPAA in the early to mid 90's and seemed like they do less now than they did back then.
