Hello,       Alright I am wanting to go for a 4 day trip to southern Indiana for a  prospecting trip.  I have a 10 inch stream sluice and digging tools generator gas powered water pump small cleanup table, gold wheel separator. I have been in the industrial repair/maintenance for many years and usually if I want it or have an idea I make it or I'll  save my pennies and buy it later.   . My main question is, with what I have what is the best way to get setup to make the most of it for ease of running and to help not discouraged. I usually go out and just scout a little and dig up 2 or 3 buckets of concentrates  and go home to run them.  May not be an short or easy answer I know. I am mainly wanting just a little feedback possibly a few ideas to get me thinking.

    Thanks All

    Welcome Randy,

Sounds like you have enough equipment to get you started.
    Maybe a pan or three.

No way for us to tell you what equipment you need.
It would be different for each of us as to what we need.
The only way to know is to get out there and do it, process material and figure out what you need depending on your operation.
What works for you may not work for me.
If your in stream with a sluice, get a # two classifier to get rid of larger rocks.
Only getting out there will teach you.

I say... take it all. Better to have your gear then to wish you had it. Classifiers are a must. Don't forget Jet Dry

    HI Randy

Spend some time hooking up with other miners, like the trip you are making. Go on some chapter outings, go to different types of gold area with people. Everyone has their own best way and all are different in some way. Your best way may take on many attributes of others and you will incorporate your own. Just keep it enjoyable and workable, with any trade as you well know from your work there is a learning curve and each to his own way to the finish.

Don't forget the property section above. Lots of info. The more you learn the more you will be able to research stuff. Youtube is also a great place for info.

Hey Randy, I have been living in southern IN for about 40 years and not much gold here.  Only very small gold, but you may want to try Cotton Wood Trails,  Jim McIntire owns it and his phone number is (812) 614-3477,  He is a great guy to talk to.  Now, he does charge I think it is ten or twenty dollars a day, but you can find some gold there even if it is small there has been some a little larger "pickers"  And this is outside Greensburg IN, and you may want to watch a video he has on YouTube.  Sure hope this helps....
