Hi all, I am going to take my wife to the Oconee property to do a little sluicing in December if we don't freeze. I have never been there before , I usually go to the Loud Mine or Weekend Goldminers property in north Georgia. I'll only have a few hours in the water so am looking for some advice on where to have a decent chance of digging up some yellow. I want her to find a little color so she will get interested in going more often. Happy Wife, Happy Life !! OR , at least she will see why I have gold fever and want to go all the time !! I will be thankful for any knowledge that can be passed on about the property. We are in the process of moving from south Florida to the southwest part of North Carolina and would like to find some different places to play in the water. Thanks, Ken

    Ken,
to my knowledge Oconee LDMA camp is closed for the winter until 1 April. You may be able to contact the caretakers and get them to let you in though as they have a few weekends so far. As far as the creek and sluicing goes, its off limits until further notice. currently you cant do anything (not even pan) in the creek but the home office is working with local authorities to get a few things done then it will get opened back up. you can highbank and dig in a few areas but nothing in the creek. hope that helps out.
