      Hey all!

Haven't posted much here.  Been lurking.

Recently "retired" and headed to Arizona with a drywasher and a lust for nuggets!

Going to be going in an RV and staying down there for the winter...

This will be my first outing of any kind, prospecting.  Hoping to find some gold with my MD or with the drywasher.

Got my GPAA membership and my GPAA guide.  Anyone been out to Gold Basin or King Tut area have any advice for a Noobie? :-)

Go I need to check in at the BLM office when I get down there to get a permit?

Finally active...looking forward to sharing all your adventures!

      Dave

    Hi Dave,
Welcome. Try Lynx Creek in Prescott Az. Also try the Cargo Muchacho Mountains, there's lots of Gold there. It's on the California and Arizona and Mexico border area. I've been there many times. The guy who owns the American Girl Mine is an awesome good guy. He owns a Prospecting store in San Diego, and occasionally he invites customers out there to the Cargo mountains for a weekend of food, prizes, and prospecting on his claim. His name is Bob. Ground Balance is the name of his store if anybody wants to know.

Hey thanks for the tips guys!
I will check that area out Adam!
For now though I am focused on this King Tut area...certainly not married to it though.
Getting into California is sketchy for me, because I have pets aboard that CA doesn't care for. Need to make arrangements for them before crossing into CA.
Has anyone done any camping or RVing out there by King Tut? Anyone know anything about OHV usage out there? I have a little buggy I use to get around too...
This place looks great to me...close to lots of great stuff to see even when you are not digging! :-)

Did you ever make it to Arizona? Any luck if you did?

I filed (posted) a prospecting report in the GPAA Claims Guide on the Gold Basin, specifically on the Bahde #10 & #11 Claims but tried to address the basin as a whole. Although I haven't had much success Nugget Shooting there (No Success), and my report might seem a bit negative on the prospects of finding any gold, I know I will return and definitely recommend it for the beauty and fun if nothing else.

Hey guys here is something to discuss I think. On a piece of land with nuggets that has not been metal detected does the "Brazil Nut Effect" come into play.  Take a look at this simple clip:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl-SwRy8pew
        or  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKQVVP9xcCM

I first ran into this years ago as I was involved as a contractor in golf course construction. In rocky areas they will require all rocks to be removed to 18 to 30 inches to stop continual rock exposure through the turf. Golf courses continually do syringe type watering to get whole course watered while golfers are not there. This type of watering is akin to the rains that deserts are exposed to in monsoon seasons.        I will leave this with you-all as an interesting thought.

Set you're sights on the fine gold, it will add up nicely.
