My wife and I live in Red Bluff CA. I just bought a Gold Bug Pro. I have been out on our property and have found a whole lot of lead...no gold
We would like to go up to the Weaverville claim and do some detecting and would like some feedback about the area. Any info would be appreciated.

Hello David, Welcome to the new adventure.

I also have a GB Pro for the past year and still learning it, but its getting better. If you dont have a "good" set of head phones, you should get a pair. Not only does it help you hear those faint signals, without background noises like the wind.....they help keep your ears warm too when its cold out. Are you getting the hang of the machine yet? I guess if you are finding lead that is a good start, just need to get the coil over the gold.!

    Hi Leo
Thanks for your quick reply. We live in Red Bluff CA Are you close by? I bought a set of head phones from the same dealer that sold me the GBP. Not the best ones he had but not the worst either. I have read on the forums though that maybe I should upgrade... Which coil do you use? Mine came with the 5 inch.
We are planning on taking a trip to Weaverville some time soon. It is only an hour and a half away from us. If you are close by maybe we can set up a meet...

I live in Ft Lauderdale but go to Reno Nv about 6 times a year, and usually go north to detect, past Rye Patch area. Your headphones should have about a 75 ohm impedance, and like all tools, quality means a lot. I did swap out my coil and put a 10" elliptical. I got it from Arizona Outback for about $153. It is Model F-10Coil-GB. I like the coil it has that extra reach for tight areas. Since I am still getting used to using it.
