Hey got a question about my next sluice.
Currently been using the royal 30inch first one I got works good very compact.
I'm wanting to upgrade to a larger sluice so I can keep feeding it and not have to cleanout so much.

I'm looking at the royal 54 wide flare model in the kit with everything to make it a recirculator or a high banker, does anyone have any experience with this.
I like the brand and how they are 100% USA made seems pretty cheap as far as price goes compared to some other brands.

Any other brands I should be looking at that can do everything the royal can?

    Any opinions greatly appreciated thanks

    James,

Maybe your cleaning out to much....just sayin.

Run my thirty inch all day 4-5 hours, no clean outs, wasting daylight as I tell my buds.
    Maybe its just me.

Save the $$$, keep workin the thirty inch.
Easyer getting it set up in the creek.

Hey James, the one thing you have to consider about the longer sluices is they either need more pitch or more water or both to move material down the sluice . This means that on shallow flat streams you might not be able to get enough pitch or water flow to activate the exchange like it needs.

    Myself I have a 10" x 54" sluice and a 7" x 30" sluice, I call them my fast water sluice (54") and my slow water sluice. (30")

As far as the Royal sluice I have some friends that have them and they seem to not have any issues with them. The fact that it is a "multi - tasking" package sounds like a good deal as you can use it for any situation, and you can probably turn it into a 2" dredge for a few more bucks and make it super versatile.

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

    Hi James,

I also have the 30 Royal and it's been great as a beginner. That said, the material does pack in behind every one of the larger riffles all the way down quite quickly and you probably think as I do that we're losing gold due to this (yes, mentioned in the last Gold Prospector Magazine). The only answer is a bigger sluice, but as Paul and William have mentioned it's going to take more water flow to run which means a couple months past spring you may start having difficulty attaining enough (I do with my 30 inch in the summer time!). If you go with a 54 inch, that wide-mouth might be the way to go, but make sure you can highbank with it as well, because I've learned that's the way to go (unless you get a dredge permit).

    Happy hunting!

    Thanks guys,

Maybe I'm cleaning out too much, I'll test it tomorrow.

This kit would be an addition to my quiver not a replacement.

I've seen a few spots already where a recirculating sluice on the bank would be better than my small one.

    So much to learn
