Hey all just got into this new addiction with the kids. Still tons to learn. Kids and I took a class last weekend and that sealed the deal for us.
Just joined gpaa so haven't got my goodies yet but that's ok. We have reservations up at downieville this weekend to see what we can find. Sadly called Forrest service and found out hands and pans only so can't use our bran new sluice.

    Little about us
I found my wife while I was in the Marines and we have 2 awesome kids, and a good dog. We love camping, fishing, abalone diving, hiking, backpacking and basically anything outside.
We currently live in Lathrop CA and love to drive out to new destinations no matter what the activity getting there is 10 percent of the fun.

Looking foreward to meeting like minded people and sharing stories.

Hello James, I'd like to welcome you and yours to the GPAA family. I highly suggest you join one of the local chapters, the folks are great and are happy to share their knowledge and help you get started.

Enjoy the outdoors with your wife and kids, and good luck in your adventures.

    Welcome James.

Don't worry about the sluice until you find a place to use it, for now just find a spot with good dirt. Spend time sampling new claims, bring your buckets home to pan through at your own pace, and then you might decide to sell the sluice and upgrade to a dredge, depending on where you are living.

Get involved with the local Chapter, it really helps.

James I don't know witch forest service office you called or what area you are working .Did you call the office in Comptonville. They do have an area there that you can use your sluice about 6 miles out of Downieville as I go there from time to time .Their office is on the corner of hwy 49 and Marysville road .If you are there on any weekday they are some great help. And they do have a map of the area.I stay at Union Flat camp ground as one of the claims I work there belongs to the club I am a member of.Let me look and I wi;; see if I can find the number for that office.

Thanks guys I've applied for stockton chapter waiting on activation.
Joseph i called the office that was listed on my reservation confirmation. I have site #1 Union flats Saturday night.
Number is 530 288 3231 not sure which office that was. Lady was very nice and polite but she seemed very confident of the hands and pans rules.
