Panning area begins at .7 miles north of the Seward Highway junction turnoff toward Hope and continues for five miles north along Sixmile Creek. Refer to the online “Gold Panning Guide to Recreational Gold Panning on the Kenai Peninsula, Chugach National Forest” for great information about mining the Chugach National Forest and Kenai Peninsula. There’s a great turnout with a relatively easy hike to access the creek and large gravel bar approximately 3.5 miles after you turn off from the Seward Highway 1 on the Hope Highway. Beautiful area with lots of wildlife.
