Notice from camp caretaker Pamela Haney:

Windy Ridge Fire has burned 10,500 acres and is only 5% contained at this time. No estimate on when it will be contained high temperatures and high winds are causing the fire to flair up.

The camp is safe  at this time but we still have fire crews here to protect the structures.  The fire burned up to the west side of the camp yesterday and was contained.  There is still the possibility that it will turn back and burn down the canyon on the east side of the camp. The road in to the camp is closed with no estimate on when it will be opened.

From GPAA Director of Development, Kevin Hoagland:

Crews are using the camp as a working base and have created a defensible space around all structures.

All roads into the area are closed and will remain so until all fire Crews and equipment have been moved or until fire command clears the area for access.

The Haney's remained in camp helping build defensible space with the camp bulldozer and are currently in camp keeping the coffee pot going 24-7 and cooking the occasional meal for the crews working the fire and using the meadow as base camp.

Further updates will be made available as they come in, feel free to contact the main office for more information.
