I've been looking through the mining guide and I found a contradiction. the page is PI-133 in the general information for Pennsylvania. The last paragraph of the page starts by saying "State Forests and Game Lands are open to panning, and prospecting."   Then the very last line of the page in bold says. "State game lands are closed to all forms of prospecting. There is no removal of anything, violators will be issued citations."  So I'm a bit confused.

Maybe it's like catch and release LOL... Find the Gold, then return it.

Where online would I look to find out where state designated game lands are? I'm having quite a bit of difficulty navigating Pennsylvania's website.

I remember years ago we used to get monthly magazines from the state for hunting.....and they had the maps with games lands....But that was produced by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and I am thinking they should have a web site in todays world......

Might be worthwhile to give them a call and see if they have maps available.....Would be good to have them in your possession anyway.  Then you have it right from "the horse's mouth".

As for the contradiction in the guide, let Walter know as they are working on the new one at this time.  When you call on the maps, might get clarification to pass on the Walt, and a name/number he can verify with.

Scott, I have been trying to find the information you are seeking about gold prospecting in Pennsylvania, this information is no longer easy to find, it used to be, I have sent an email to the State Forester requesting this information, hopefully I get a response. I did find this, not on a state sponsored site, although it used to be: http://www.paprospectors..../3930-FS-DEP4099.pdf
