Was surfing through the forum and passed by this statement in one of the post: “make sure you have your card in possession.”
The problem: I’m in Arizona but from Texas. I recently joined, in Arizona, and my mailbox is in Corpus Christi. I’m two days away from checking out my first GPAA claim. I just assumed that the official membership confirmation info that I received from GPAA on my phone was all I needed to have handy. In my opinion that is as good if not better than a “card”. Am I right or wrong?
    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome Butch,

Technically, you are sopposta have your GPAA mining guide, your GPAA membership card, and GPAA claims mining permit with you
That of itself is fairly vague, in my truck, on me, maybe, on your phone, maybe
In my 25yrs as a member, I have never been asked by anyone to see my card/book
In my opinion, your phone confirmation would suffice, but that's just my opinion, doubt anyone will ask (if you see anyone)

Yep, has been brought up before. If you have the proof of joining on your phone you're good to go.

I just keep my card and permit in wallet. When we go to our claims, if we see a GPAA sticker on the rig, we won't bother them. If not, we'll ask, and nicely explain that it is an active mining claim, for exclusive use of members, and invite to a meeting.

We usually get "didn't know it was a claim", even when they are parked under the signs or walked right by it.

If we get too much static, we just go find a LEO, and take all available information along with pics. The next time we have them cited and any equipment impounded. We then ask the court for forfeiture of that equipment as restitution for mineral theft.

Thanks for the reply. I’m getting my sister to forward my mail just to circumvent any problems. Now I just got to wait for mail to catch up with me. Happy hunting.

    UPDATE:
I just wanted to update this now that I had the question answered by “Tamara” at the GPAA main office. When your Membership is a monthly membership ($5.99 month), you don’t get anything mailed to you. All your correspondence from GPAA is electronic ONLY. (This is actually explained in the fine print so to speak when you sign up.) Each month when your membership is renewed (automatically) you are sent a new “electronic membership card” with the valid expiration dates. This electronic card on your phone is all that is required. Some of the older members with other types of memberships may not be aware of this. They are quit welcome to call the main office to verify if they feel the need. Tamara is very helpful and willing to help with any ones questions. Her extension is 115.
    Happy Hunting

Thanks for the explanation. We'll keep in mind when out on the claims.

The monthly plan is fairly new and not everyone knows the particulars.
