I don't expect anyone to spill all their secrets.  I'm just wanting a point in the right direction.  I want my travels from South Dakota to be worth my while.  I appreciate any info.  I usually travel to the Front Range.  Boulder to Colorado Springs area.

    much thanks,

    Jon

Check with The Rock Doc at Prospectors Village in Nathrop,Colorado. therockdoc.net phone 719-539-2019 This is near Mt.Antero where those TV rock stars hunt. The Prospectors on The Weather Channel.

Sorry for the late reply. I just joined.

You can always check out the web site https://pinnacle5minerals.com/. This is Joe Dorris' site/claim (from the TV show, Prospectors). For a small fee, they allow individuals to help them find topaz. If smaller, they'll let you keep it. Otherwise, they sell it to you at wholesale value.

Otherwise, I would suggest joining one of the local gem and mineral clubs in Colorado since most of the "good spots" are claimed. They'll get you access to different claims that you wouldn't normally be able to access. A couple of the local clubs definitely helped me to get my feet wet when it came to gem hunting.

Yes Jon, as Shane said, you can come visit us at the Topaz claim during our mining time. Normally Joe doesn't start mining until May, but we start first with Topaz and have guests around May - June. So depending on when your trip is, come up to the Topaz claim with us. We would love to have you!  Also, FYI, we recently updated the Pinnacle 5 Minerals website, so bear with us. Hope to see you out there digging with us!
