Empty Frame Back packs with a fold out bottom. These are mainly used by Hunters to attach quartered large game and then to hike it out. But these empty fold out frames also work great for carrying out a bucket full of dirt and allows the prospector to build their own based on what they need. I saw one of these in a store and should have bought it on sight, but they were sold out a week later when I returned. They allow you to attach what you want and need and build your own, but also have the fold out shelf to sit a bucket down on. The one in particular that is the most useful has an extendable top which allows the prospector to attach a light weight sleeping role, attach shovels and pics, or any other gear they want to carry to include fishing poles, and then keep the heavy weight at their core where their balance is.
I know most people use ATV's and trucks to get to their digs sights, but for the people still really getting out there off the trails these are incredibly valuable. Even if they are even having to hike back a half mile to their truck, that is a bucket full of dirt they are not having to carry with their arms for a half mile.

Set of crevice tools that are well made and somewhat reasonably priced.
BC- Out here we have a store chain that carries they type of pack frame. Should be easy to come by at a Bass Pro or Cabellas, Sportsmans Warehouse, etc. |

Thanks for all the ideas guys. We are definitely looking at some picks and crevice tools to offer in the future, namely a pick and shovel combo that's similar to the military grade ones out there. The backpack is a great idea as well and will just have to find a place where we can buy them in bulk. We may have to settle for some regular backpacks or carrying bags for the time being, but we'll let you know.
Any other ideas out there? Thanks again for all the help!

Any chance somebody out there makes a ceramic crucible the right size and shape that all it requires is that you pour your gold in and put a torch to it to melt it into a button? Most crucibles and cupels are really cheap, I would love to see one that is so simple you just dump your finds into it and then take a torch to it to melt your finds, small enough to be pocket sized and done in the field without blowing your fine gold away or having to add flux, lead, or amalgamite?

Here is a couple of ideals;
A cheap cover to protect the cards and maps that we need to carry.
A small solar charger that rolls up for recharging batteries in the field.
A small first aid kit to bandage those boo boos we all get in the field.
An info panplet that gives usefull info on apps that might come in handy ( IE , phone apps that handle locations [ GPS / etc] on the phone , useful recipies on a good trail mix that can be carried out in case of emergicies [ some for dietetics would be useful] .)

Here are a few more from Walt in our claims department to think about:
-Assortment set of small tools for getting into cracks in rocks with small pry tools like for harvesting crystal plates or fire agate.
-Loops, good quality can be had real cheap, also I got one that has led and led black lite on it.
-Large Forceps with different types of ends.
-Small individual first aid kits, bee sting kits.
-Small led t7 or 8 bulb flash lights
-Same as above only with head gear for walking at night.
-Long and short wave battery operated black lights, to id minerals and creatures at night.
-Signal mirrors, fire (magnesium) starters, compass.
-25 or 50 foot lengths of para cord for camp tie downs.
-Assortment of books like: mineral id w/ color pictures, the Spanish treasure sign books"

Along the lines of the 12V crack vac idea, how about one run off of something like DeWalt or Craftsman 18 to 19.2V drill batteries. Easier to carry a couple of those in the field than even a motorcycle gel battery.

How about some "Peace Offering" gifts for that significant other to make up or celebrate the separation time?
I got one of those small cuddly donkey with the little black t-shirt on it. It seemed to help.
Maybe offer one with a pink shirt?
The pink colored gold pan didn't seem to work.
But, the fuzzy little ass with the t-shirt did.

I had a plate made that says (GoldMnr) for Arizona. 1 Plate state, so 1 on my truck for a license plate. 1 on front of my motorhome to display my passion. May work in other states.

I took a torsion bar from a Ford Ranger, cut in half. Put a chisel tip on the cut ends. Has the big hex head on the other ends. Used for breaking open cracks in bedrock in conjunction with a 4 lb hammer or bigger.
Something along those lines might be feasible. |

Mmmmm gear!... My 2nd favorite topic....and i could go on and on about this subject lol... But i will keep it brief and tell you my main pieces of gear in a nutshell and not in any particular order ..... Good knee pads ...(cant stress those enough).....a well made backpack/rucksack (like mentioned above).....i wear a small single strap pack with Molle accross my chest to carry snacks a soda/water ..pen and paper...small tools....and a quick to reach small med supplies ...etc...(which also counter balances the weight distribution) .... These go over my tactical utility vest ..which provides a plethora of pockets from which are filled with ..well....a plethora of gear lol.....real good pair of boots.... weather appropriate clothing .....a Unted Cutlery M48 tactical shovel which connects to the utilty belt and a good prospectors pick with magnets ....crevice tools...toothbrush ....ok...gonna stop before i start naming everything lol....but most important are the gear that make me comfortable, safe, and get the "work" done.....everything else is for convience....and that is why i have so many pockets  Work smart not hard......well if anyone has any questions etc ...please feel free to drop me a line ............Happy prospecting!!! There is a crevice tool that 2-Toes and others on U-tube uses, that I can't seem to find anywhere, I found something simular
but not the same as theirs, something of a long knife with an upwards curve to it and a strong handle, probably about 10"-14",
hopefully someone knows what I talking about,

Ancient thread but I have a request, I would like to find (finally) a 2 screen set of classifiers that
A) is not plastic B) doesn't cost arm/leg C) Lasts
I am planning to run a Gold Cube this summer and need a no-nonsense solution for screening down.
I know the trommel is an option but I am partly doing this for my health and classifying is a big part
of that exercise plan. Classifying is one of the major points of using the Gold Cube so it's a requirement
in order to operate at it's potential. Any advice, recommendations or links to products appreciated.
BTW: I am new to this - I got my "experience" as a young man in the Superstitions - never had gold
fever or the "gold bug" but love the sound of gravel washing in my pan and the smell of bullshit around
a campfire. Hope to see you out there!

A Sawyer squeeze bag water purifier. Super light and easy to use. It's allowed me to stay in the field all day without lugging water. I've been using mine for years. Reverse it to unclog it and keep on finding gold!

Super fine screen sets 40 mesh to 200 mesh and not the 5 gallon pail size. Would be nice to screen the flower gold better for the miller table. I run a raptor flare with extension to get the flower in the area and its been difficult to find the smaller screens to to help the miller table along
