The place I am moving to work next, (in the Wallowa valley, Oregon) is all Glacial soil. 12 miles from town is a lake dammed in by glacial moraine. (Wallowa lake) So I started reading up on prospecting glacial moraine and ran across this lovely article: http://www.mygoldpanning....dingglacialgold.html

Seems this guy was directed where to dig by an older, more experienced miner when he was 16. 2 days and 7 ft. later digging down into the soil behind a moraine, he uncovered a little over 14 oz. of squished nuggets and flake gold...

So true to the title subject, a backhoe has just been added to my wish list of prospecting equipment!

Needless to say I won't be getting one of those, but a gold cube is the other item and at least that is realistic.

So, what is on _your_  wish list and why?

    Cheers!

    Mary

    Hi Mary,
I am pretty new to Oregon but have always loved it. Lived here when I was a kid, Bend, Deschutes river area, Eugene, and Cottage Grove. Been prospecting since 1993. Anyway to make a long story short. I lived in Illinois for around 20 year's and Glacial drift gold is all there is. It's real fine but if you take the time to run it slow like beach gold you'll be nicely surprised. Good luck

may the bottom of your pan always be yellow :-)

Back Hoe - still like Tonka Toys

Large Shaker Table- Lazy at times

ohh... and most importantly, a producing claim, lol.

Do those large shaker tables really work well?

I've looked over the Trommel setup for the gold cube. That would seem to cut out a lot of the work!

The large shaker table, like seen on gold rush and bering sea gold, would be used for a larger operation...typically 10+ tons per day.

As far as the trommel or gold banker goes, I opted for the HD Gold Topper for the cube manufactured for www.CrissonGoldMine.com by a local (in Dahlonega, GA).

It classifies to a little less than 1/4", which is about the largest material that the cube can run efficiently, in my opinion and testing.
