How many gph of water do you need to catch flour gold with a 10" wide sluice with a vortex type mat. I've tried 5-7° with terrible results. I was told I need to run it between 11° -17° but that just seems way to steep for such microscopic gold to have time to drop out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Appx 1" per foot of sluice length is a good starting point

I think that's a great question, seeing as how I've had my 4' sluice for 15 years and I never knew the correct angle. If I could get ripples going over it in a flowing creek, it was easy. If there was no flowing water, I was clueless.

Vortex mat is a special beast. It really does need to be that steep - target is 15 degrees more or less - ...which is why it's used in the Gold Cube.
If you want to run flatter, I'd suggest a different mat solution like Dream Mat (that what I just started using and I am thrilled with it).
