Open carry is legal on BLM and National forest in NM.  Concealed only with a valid license.

I figured as much but traveling to another state, it is always best to check. Thanks Mike. Here in OK we can open carry or conceal carry as long as we are licensed.

NM is an open carry state anyway.
New Mexico is one of our “Gold Star” open carry states. There is complete state preemption of all firearms laws, open carry is increasingly common and law enforcement is well educated as to its legality. In addition, New Mexico has an extended domain law which effectively makes your vehicle an extension of your home. So you may carry openly or concealed in your vehicle.

I wish OK was as good.  We still have to pay for our licenses to open carry or conceal carry.

Being from Texas which is a concealed carry state I can really go either way. If I want or feel the need to carry a firearm concealed I feel we all should have that right, but if the same time I want to carry open I feel I should have the right to do so as well.

 

So depending on the situation it will determine how I am armed.

Since I have my  permit, when I carry for social purposes, it is always concealed. Just easier that way and doesn't irritate some folks. Plus the varmits don't know one way or another, and it has made a depression in my hide that just doesn't feel right unless it is filled.  Only time for open is a .22 SA for snake medicine or plinking.
