How to find prospecting areas

    So I know how to check Alaskan state/federal claims. Is it ok to just look up claimed areas and prospect the unclaimed portions 100 meters up/down stream? I am new to this and I don't know if there are prospecting etiquette rules. Being in Alaska, I don't want to get shot in the woods.

    This is what I've been using to avoid claimed areas. I'll zoom in and take screenshots of areas I plan to be in that don't have cell service and I'll those with Gaia to avoid the claims.
