So for the fun of it, I was looking at purchasing a claim. Found claim from gold rush expeditions. How can they set a price on a claim without any studies? No geo report no assay no pictures of the inside. Has not been worked in decades. They say a couple of guys could dig it out in a day or two. It would take an excavator a day. Also no exact location is given or ID number. What gives. They sound like snake oil salesmen.

There are many people that file claims, just to sell them. Yep snake oil.

You being an engineer, you probably don't best fit into the type person they are hoping to hear from!

    Could be legit...
That being said, do the homework and research and pay a third party nothing
LR2000 is a good place to start looking for claims in area's of interest.
Not all information is up loaded in a timely fashion at times. Not sure of status now days.
Many questions, sampling and research before you lay any $$$ down on any claim.
publications available from the dept of interior "Location and Validity of mining claims", learn all one needs to know about mining claims and situations to avoid

After much research I have come to the conclusion that Gold Rush Expeditions is untrustworthy. It appears that no bore samples or anything else was done. It also appears that they didn't find any minerals. Isn't that required to stack a claim?

Just had an interesting phone call with the BLM. They told me that none of the GRE claims are valid because GRE has no intent to mine them, only claim them and sell them. The government of course is happy to take there money but, Per the BLM you cannot make a claim for the sole purpose of reselling it. The law requires the intent to mine it. Does anyone know about this?

Part of the requirements to hold a valid claim is the function of maintaining and working the claim. But I would think that if the BLM takes their money in the filing process, and then later makes a determination that the claim is not valid because of the reason you described....They "BLM" should be notifying the claim holder of BLM intention to invalidate the claim. BLM would be contributing to the mess of sorting out a valid claim if GRE sold it to an unsuspecting buyer only to have BLM say during the transfer that there is NO claim.

That's what I would have thought. I was told, take it to civil court, they would loose, but until then they are happy to take their money. Sounds like government as usual.
