I live in Ontario Ca, I prospect mainly on the weekends. Some week days in the summer time when on vacation.
I frequent the Barstow Claims and Victorville Claim in the Fall through Spring - SEE THE PROPERTY REVIEWS FOR MY REPORTS. I AM RANKED 8TH IN CALIFORNIA FOR TOP REVIEWERS.
Big Bear Holcomb Valley area in the summer
Azusa Canyon and Lytle Creek in the summer also.
Metal detecting Beaches and deserts anytime of year.

I am equipped to prospect in all areas with the gear I have.
I use a dry washer in the desserts, mountains and Lytle Creek.
I use all my other gear whenever and wherever. I have more gear than I need. sluice boxes, metal detectors, panning machines, miller table, recirculating gold cube, sluice box, pans and all hand tools and a 4x4 pick up to get there!

must have your own gear and if not must be willing to dig with me to have any use of mine.....lol
I remember before I bought a dry washer I wanted to see how it worked first hand before purchasing one myself. so if that's you just bring a great attitude and the willingness to have a great day and get a little color as well.

OPEN INVITE to any GPAA member new or old.
if you would like to go with an experienced member on these claim I am always looking for friends who would like to Join me to learn, Dig or just check things out for the first time. getting some pointers on a new claim from an experienced member really helps.
maybe you know someone who want to be a member and does not know the whats or hows…..bring them too!!!! they will get hooked.

Feel free to contact me via email or text - just introduce yourself as a GPAA member and lets go dig some yellow stuff. YOU CAN FOLLOW ME OUT OR MEET ME THERE.

I am 50 and have been prospecting since 2001. love to make friends and I love being out doors. I used to write for Lost Treasure Magazine.

If you take me up on this invitation you had better be ready to HAVE A GREAT TIME GETTING GOLD FEVER because it WILL GET CH A!

    Join me would ya?? Cheers!

    DON GREENO

I have removed my contact information as NON GPAA Members have been contacting me to get together- I love making friends but a few of the people have NOT been interested in becoming GPAA members and I have NO INTEREST in making friends that are NON MEMBERS or taking someone to a GPAA claim that is not a Member.
I have met some great guys that ARE members and I will build on those relationships moving forward.
I wish you all the best and see you out on the GPAA claims

    Hi Don,

I'd love to meet up sometime. I live about 200 miles north of LA in the Owens Valley so I'd likely meet you somewhere in between (Kern or SB counties). I'm well equipped for drywashing or metal detecting but also have a basic sluice. In other words, I'm pretty much good to go for anything placer.

I'll be 50 in a few weeks so we're probably running about the same pace :)

I'll send you a text to see if we can meet up sometime.

Hey Don, I have been prospecting for a few years and mainly use a Minelab Gold Monster metal detector, pan or run dirt at home in my recirculating sluice. I live in Big Bear City and would like to meet you and do some prospecting on the Holcomb Gold claim. I also own my own claim northeast of Fawnskin but it's quite a hike to get to it and I've only worked it a couple times since I bought it. Hope we can meet up and get some color! My email is bfbutler@hotmail.com. Thanks! Brian

I'm in Norco (Corona/Riverside area). I would love to join in on the prospecting antics within the region. New to the GPAA, not new to prospecting. Robotics design engineer by trade, but I spend a lot of time in stage and studio management, event announcing and voice over, lighting and sound engineering.

Have equipment (less a sluice/highbanker that decided to depart my truck without permission, and became road kill. long story). Also recently picked up a AT Max which is proving itself nicely for gold against my GB2.

I've been researching and sampling a few virgin areas (somewhat locally) that look promising, but this 100+ degree heat over the last couple months, is cramping my prospecting. I don't mind working the GPAA claims, but from what i've seen so far, most aren't worth the calorie burn.

    Wishing everyone yellow pans!

    sounds great Doug.
I will hit you up on our trips out.
from what I have lived the GPAA claims I agree have been worked but always hold that sweet spot for the person looking in the right places. so far I have not been disappointed just happy to have some ground to work with no worries. if you know of some spots that are not claimed but workable i'm always interested.
I would love to join you and have you join me or us on the next trips out.
so far I have met some great guys to dig with.

    more to come.
store my contact info in your phone and pass on yours when you get some time via a text and I will store yours then.

I look forward to meeting you and doing some digging hopefully soon

    all my best

    Whoof, you ain't kidding!

When I saw that this weekend was going to be in the 80's in northern AZ, I absolutely became giddy with excitement to be able to spend more than just a few hours digging. I can't wait until Barstow area cools off a few more degrees so I can take a crack at Placer Pete.

Update edit: I went. Grabbed a 5 gallon bucket, some giant ziplock bags, a sharpie, my gps, and a shovel. Grabbed a scoop or two here and there, where it looked really good. Brought it home to pan out. About two hours of walking, looking around, and scooping. 1.8 grams total. My hunch was correct. There was nothing worth mentioning near the water and the gold is damn deep. The flakes and a few pickers looked like they had been run over by trucks over the years, definitely float from farther away. Might be an ok area with a drywasher if you do some thorough sampling and know the spots to hit ahead of time.

I'm thinking about doing some sampling and snooping around the north fork lytle claim today (10/6). Nothing heavy, just basic prospecting. My curiosity lays more in the benches/canyons up the hills, than in the sand. The riverbed has been beat to death over the years, and i'm not motivated to bring out a drywasher for a few flakes. I might also snoop around the Blue Cut and Creek areas. The water is really low at the moment and finding those stratified layers should be fairly easy until the rains come.

I've also been curious about that gossen along the road leading to the claim, that someone cut an adit in. I've always wanted to fill a half a bucket there and crush it down for fun and to satisfy my curiosity.

    Hey Don,
Completely new here and lacking in equipment however I’m 27 and willing to work. I definitely want to learn and experience a few of the GPAA claims, I live in LA and can make it to San Bernardino and Riverside claims, Saturday’s preferred, and I’m limited to the terrain that a Toyota Corolla can handle. Would love to get in touch! 310-971-1419-Brandon

Sorry for the late reply, i've been in Denver all week for work. I'll submit a kitchen pass request with my commanderosa for the 22nd. My best luck in that area has been swinging the AT Max over tailings piles, but I don't mind manning a rake and shovel either :)

    All,

I’m new to GPAA, live in Texas and fly into Ontario 1-2 times per month. Every now and then I’m able to get a layover greater than 24hrs and would love to hit some of the local areas. My bag space is limited so its a pan, and maybe a folding shovel for me (along with a rental car). If you’re interested in a third wheel, hit me up and I’ll see if our paths can cross down the road.
