A CD with an Aerial and a Topo Map linked to Google Earth would be so much help. Click on the state you want and see all the claims in that state. Zoom into an area you will be in and print out the map to take along..... that book drives me crazy trying to figure out exactly where it is that i want to go...... this could also save on Catalog Costs given an option to purchase dues either way

The CD could be made impossible to copy to protect from piracy and Legal terms put in to protect the club from others.

An App sure would be nice but on the Androids the tiles for the map would have to be imbedded for areas of no signal which takes up a lot of room but iphones are easier to do (I don't have one)

The CD would be great to armchair Prospect for a future outing.

    Just a thought

This is a great idea a CD that gave better idea and a little more info. As far as piracy I have seen the claim guide for sale on Craigslist. It would be a great if you could move your cursor on the the computer screen and see the the GPS #s for the location. Especially the corners of the claim. It would probably be a lot of work but I would be interested even if there was an additional cost.

I sure hope someone in Administration see's this and gives it some thought about the CD
What i have to do now is look in the book and find which one i want. Open a topo map in Google Earth and compare it to the book to get the four corners. (sometimes they are in the book)..... then i transfer it to google earth and make a path to all four corners...... After that i transfer that file to my handheld gps and drive to my destination........ What a pain in the butt but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I would definitely pay for that CD as there are many claims out here by me and not going onto someone elses claim would be helpful

Great minds think alike Joseph, I just signed up to ask the same question.
Actually, an App for Android and Mac would also be great. It could be updated easily with new claims information.
Google earth overlay would be awesome. It's done with Historicalmapworks.com and very helpful.

I go to the USGS MRdata web site and get the Google Earth geological overlays
and add those to my Google Earth menus.
This is the one for the state of Georgia:http://mrdata.usgs.gov/sgmc/ga.html

The USGS has one for every State and US possession.
These overlays show the distribution of geologic formations through out a State.
The ones for Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina really pinpoint
    the Gold bearing areas.

A CD could be copied. Howeve a good APP would login and prevent nonmembers as well as prevent copies.
