Bertha Creek Panning Area

I stopped on my way home for an hour. dug a hole in front of a big rock inside the culvert. i didn't even classify them. i worked the buckets at home and got 1/4 gram of fines. to get to the bottom of the culvert its 18" of soils.

Ground frozen three inches deep below the highway. Above the highway on south side of the creek is still covered in large snow drifts. Six test pans from north side of the creek, however revealed six to 20 colors per pan...some of the coldest panning I’ve ever done!

i stayed in camp site number 3 . it has a trail to a gravel bar. at the up side of the gravel bar has a lot of wire type peices of gold but they are not very thick. lots of dots
