Currently claim seems dry. Seems by entrance point there has been some recent target practice! Bring good work gloves! Loads of broken glass and other stuff. I took out what trash I could handle with my gear on me. Sampled about 5 spots haven’t processed it all yet. Walked from end to end of the canyon floor here and it’s dry in the area, odd because I see water flowing south of the claim!
***Warning*** currently large ticks in the area!! Luckily I was wearing a hoodie!! Returned to my truck to find two large ticks crawling on my hoodie!!
Looked Greyish, tried to look up what species but couldn’t find a match.
Parking across road was great! (DONT FORGET YOUR FORREST PASS!)

I recently joined GPAA and this is the first claim that I've visited. Earlier reports talked about a lot of trash and shooting debris in the area. That is an accurate statement. We basically walked the area and took a few samples to pan at home. We will definitely go back again as we gain more information and education. The GPS coordinates were a little hard to locate with a phone app as the signal was not consistent. Recommend getting a good GPS device for other first timers.

Lots of lead, tweaks, and lots of fun

Gave the gold monster a spin first and lots of shell casings was the order of the day. Then dug a hole 4 ft deep and got a lot of lead, before I gave up. I sampled within eyesight of my truck, because I saw the same car of tweakers drive by twice. They actually slowed to pull in the pullout until they saw me on the other side of my car. Section of road at the claim is pretty desolate so watch your car. Beautiful day, all alone out there, and even found some flower gold. Creek is ripping if sluice is your thing, but I didn’t dare walk to far from my car.

Worthless claim

This claim is trash. Theres a shooting range across from it so metal detecting is not fun. I never found any gold here drywashing. Water?! What water! The water is very rare. Not a good area to leave a vehicle. Trashy trashy area.

Interesting claim - maybe not ideal for beginners

I went for the first time back in August (2020). It was my first visit to a GPAA claim. I'm very green, only having picked up the hobby during COVID quarantine. I was accompanied by a couple other first-timers.

We wandered around the claim, and were both intrigued by all the features of this massive, dry creek bed, and also a bit humbled. As total noobs, we didn't really know where to start prospecting. We had come hoping to try some panning, but there was no water to be found on the claim. We took a few samples, but mostly just walked around exploring. Saw lots of evidence of people working the area.

I didn't find any color when I panned through the samples. No surprise, as we didn't much know what we were doing.

I agree with the earlier post that it could be a fun place to bring a recirculating sluice. At very least I may bring some water next time so I could pan down the samples on the spot.

Overall a fun visit, and I'll go back more prepared next time.

We met this cute little inhabitant (see pic).
