It's been a while since I've been to The San Gabriel River to sluice. Does anyone know if you still can sluice or pan the river ?

I was up there last weekend for a couple of hours. I have heard stories of fines but have not had any problems yet

My son and I went at the end of January on two different outings although it recently received national monument status you can still prospect, you cannot file new claim however .We were not the only ones up there digging and lots of hikers so get there early and good luck.

It is being looked into because I have been told by others that dig up there have been kicked out because of the monument status. so if you do prospect up there be careful. have chated with Brad Jones on face book and email about this. There is supposed to a public meeting in May 2015 about the monument. I do not know when or where yet. when I hear something I well let you all know but keep your eyes open for any publice meetings and let others know about it so we can show up and express our interest please.
